St Luke’s Hornsby Heights Anglican:

The beating heart of our church is to share the good news of Jesus with as many people as we can so that they might know the eternal joy which we’ve come to know and so that our Father might be honoured.

Our three values

Biblical saturation. Prayerful dependence. Practical service.
In this work of sharing Jesus with people we value Biblical saturation. The Bible is God’s word to us. So we don’t just want to know a little bit about it, we want to be saturated by it so that it overflows in every part of our thinking and acting.
We value prayerful dependence which means that we show by our prayerfulness that we are totally reliant on God to bring us and others to eternal joy by his grace and power.
We also value practical service. We want to live lives which show the glory of God by our good works to each other and the world we live in.

Our three mission areas

Gathering. Growing. Going.
There are three activities which are core business for St Luke’s. We gather together in different sized groups to worship Jesus and encourage each other.

In these gatherings our aim is to grow together to know and love Jesus more.
We go from these gatherings to the world with the news of Jesus.

These are our core beliefs that we hold to:

1. The only true God, the almighty Creator and Sustainer of all things, exists. He is known as one God with three persons Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

2. The Bible, as originally given, is divinely inspired, infallible, and is the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

3. All people have value and dignity; they are created in God’s image to live in relationship with their Creator and His creation, but have become alienated from Him and others because of sin and are therefore justly subject to God’s condemnation.

4. Jesus Christ, fully human and fully divine, was born of the virgin Mary. He was perfect and lived in complete obedience to God the Father. Because of God’s love for humanity, Jesus willingly died on the cross as a sacrifice, taking the punishment that we deserved for our sin.

5. Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead and ascended to heaven, where he reigns at the right hand of God.

6. It is only by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ alone, that our relationship with God is restored and that we can be justified.

7. The work of the Holy Spirit is necessary for us to repent and have faith in Jesus Christ, bringing us into a right relationship with God.

8. Christian hope and confidence are based upon God’s promise of eternal life to all who trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

9. The Lord Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return and will judge all people.

10. The Holy Spirit is at work in all believers to empower them to live Christlike lives of witness, service and good works in community with other believers as they await the return of Jesus Christ.
