Mike Begbie
What do you get up to in the week?
I have three main roles at St Luke’s, each of which align with our three mission statements. Firstly I organise and oversee our 10am and 5pm Sunday gathering. Secondly, I work so that each person at St Luke’s grows to be more like Jesus and lastly I lead our church in going with the good news of Jesus to Hornsby Heights and beyond.
Family, kids, pets?
I am married to Amelia and have three kids. We’re thinking about getting a dog.
Likes and dislikes about Hornsby Heights?
I love the tight-knit community. I can’t leave my office without running into someone I know and having a chat. I love that I can see the bush from almost anywhere in the suburb. I don’t like the bush turkeys who build nests under my deck and I’m sad that we’re so far from the ocean.
Testimony
From early on Jesus was a part of my life. But in my late teens I realised that Jesus couldn’t just be a part of my life, he had to be king of it all. Which meant that he had to move from being an add on to all the other things I thought and did, to being the centre of and reason for everything I thought and did. So I said sorry to him, gave him my life and now I live every day telling others that he’s the loving king and saviour of all peoples in this world, including me.
