Thursty & Shift Logos

Shift is a youth group which runs on Friday nights from 7:30-9:30. Anyone in yrs 7-12 is invited to come along and have fun with others from the Hornsby and Hornsby Heights community. A typical night involves small groups where we dig into the bible, followed by heaps of hectic games. We finish by eating supper and relaxing at the end of the night.

A large part of Shift is the Bible teaching each night. We’re dedicated to upholding the values of St Luke’s by sharing about Jesus “Biblically, prayerfully and practically”. We teach the stories of the Bible and God’s love for us, while encouraging the kids to live in a way which is honest, loving and inclusive.

The cost for the night is $2, which covers supper costs and any materials used on the night.

I lead at Shift because I enjoy hanging out with the kids who come and teaching them about God. My favourite bible verse would be 1 Timothy 4:12 – Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity

IMG_20160423_200018Nick – Nick has been involved in St Lukes Youth Groups for about 10 years. He is passionate about mental health, learning musical instruments, and The Bible. He enjoys Cooking and Carpentry, despite not being very good at either. His favourite Bible Verse is 2 Timothy 3:16.

Steph – Steph started with SHIFT late 2015. She also runs St Lukes Mini Climbers Playtime, as well as JIGSAW Kids time for Kids at Church on Sunday mornings. Steph loves ministering to children. She likes to knit and crochet, play the flute, and garden, in her spare time, of which she has none. Her favourite Bible verse is Psalm 94:18-19

AlanAlan – When I’m not playing on a computer, hanging with friends or attempting to learn immeasurable amounts of trivia I trudges through the University curriculum of IT. My favourite bible verse(s) is something I constantly changes my mind about because “all scripture is God breathed” (2 Tim 3:16) but I really likes John 3: 16-18 “16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him may not die but have eternal life, 17 For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through him. 18 whoever believes in him is not condemned but the one who does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s One and only Son“. And I’m doing Shift because the kids are cool and the Jesus is cool so they should know both
